Be Confident

Author’s Note: This short piece is going to tell you what my prediction was and what I think was going to happen at the end of a book I am reading.

The book Holes by Louis Sachar I think is a really great book for young and old who like to read books. Holes is about teenagers who do a crime and either go to jail or to a camp and at the camp they have to dig a hole each day five feet deep and five feet wide and if they find something interesting they show it to the warden she’s like the runner of the camp and she decides if they get the rest of the day off. It teaches people lots of different things. One thing it teaches is that you have to keep working hard even if you are in a hot place or a cold place.

I had lots of predictions in my head about this book but I will tell you one of them.  I predicted that The main character Stanley will find something interesting in a hole that he is digging and he will show it to the warden at the camp and he will not have to dig holes for a week because how cool the thing was that he had found. The reason I predicted that, is because Of what I said about them getting the rest of the day off if they found something cool. That prediction just stuck out to me for some reason and I thought my prediction was a good one to say.

We all have our own predictions for every book and people can’t tell you that the prediction is wrong because we all have different predictions and there can’t always be that one person that thinks whatever they do or think is right. Our predictions are sometimes right and sometimes wrong it depends on the outcome of the story so make good predictions and see what happens.

Stay Strong

Author note: In this piece I will be telling you what the theme is in the book holes and what the characters experience throughout the book and what the author is trying to say.

In the book Holes by Louis Sachar the author proves to readers that bravery and courage go with the book because of many different events that happened. Many people that read this book learn a lot about life ,and what it does to you if you make the wrong choices. The characters in the book have to stay strong through the very hot days that they are at camp with not a lot of water each day and not good food to eat. Each person there has to listen to their instructor and do the right things.

There are many characters in the story and how they have bravery and courage and how they each stay strong and don't give up digging there holes or helping other people. Each character in the book learns to listen and once they are done spending their time there they can go, and will never want to come back because how hard you have to work there. It is very hard on them because they don't get to see their family for quite sometime.

The main character Stanley is not a tall , or strong kid he is the opposite and it is hard for him to dig his holes. When he was coming here he thought there was a lake to swim in there so he wouldn't be so hot ,and it turns out that there is no such thing as a lake. He was not happy when he found that out but at least he got to take showers but the showers went for a short time. He teaches some other kids at the camp to stay strong and to not give up and let nothing stop you and fight off the pain and most important keep moving forward never stay back.

There is another book that I have read and it has the same theme in the book holes it is called Travel Team and the main character has to stay strong and never give up and not  listen to what some people say to him He also helps people and gives them good advise to help them in life and to keep them moving forward. So when times get hard try to stay strong and let nothing stop you and let the pain slide of you.

Work Hard

Author’s Note: I am writing this piece to let other readers know about the main character Danny in the novel Travel Team by Mike Lupica and how he helps others throughout the book.

Danny isn’t a big tall kid as lots of you would think he is, lots of you think he is because it is a sports book and usually the main character is big and strong but Danny is the opposite. Throughout the book Danny becomes wiser and a great influence on other people. There are many great examples of what he does in the book.

His dad was a great example for him at the beginning he really wanted him to play basketball on the same team he did when he was in 6th grade. Danny tried out for the basketball team and didn’t make it he was very upset and it felt like his life’s goal was no longer possible he tried giving up because he thought he wasn’t good anymore. He then decides to practice a lot more and try to make it on another team that he’s dad was going to coach he said he was never going to give up from this point forward and he made the team I think that was one great example of not giving up and trying harder.

On the other hand why’ll he was going through this his dad was watching him and seeing what he was doing if he wanted to come back and play basketball or not.  His friends were also great influences on him they kept saying you should go back and start playing the sport you love.  He was also a great influence on other people too because when you should fight back to what you want to accomplish you should do it and never give up and he decide to never give up. And lots of people saw that and learned something from that experience that Danny had.

Giving up is a really bad thing because if you want to go back to it later then you are not has good has you were before when you were doing what every you were doing.

Founding Fathers

Author’s note: This is going to be about what question would I ask Americas founding fathers and how cool it would be to meet them in person.

I would of loved to meet the founding fathers if I lived during when they did and would like to see what they would say and see what their personality would be. I would ask them lots of questions but I’m going to tell you one that I would ask them. The question that I would ask them is you guys did a great job making the bill of rights and was it hard making them?

The reason I would ask them that is because I think the bill of rights is very important and if we didn’t have them I don’t know where are country would be right now and it would affect everyone living in the United States. Lots of people not following the rules and it would just get out of hand. There would be less jobs here and lots more people would have no job and make no money to live.

I think this question is a great question to tell them and ask them. It would be the best thing in the world to meet the founding fathers and how cool they would be and how much they would know about everything. There are many great questions to ask them but I think mine is a really great question to tell and ask.

This would be the best thing in the world to be able to meet them. What question would you ask the founding fathers? Don’t you think meeting them would be the coolest thing in the world?

The main problem in The novel Travel Team was this boy loved the game of basketball and wanted to try out for a select team and he did not make the team. Part of the reason he didn't make it was because he is very short. How this problem got resolved is that he found another team to try out for and he made the team and his dad was the coach.

The cause of this happening is that he is to short and the coach did not put him a the team. The effect that it had was he could not play on that basketball for that year. He had to try to get on another team or his life's goal will be no longer possible.

Monday Night Football

Author’s Note: What I want you to get out of this piece is that you should always have fun in your life. Don’t be angry and sad all the time.

My dad and I were very excited to go to a Monday night football game in Dallas. We weren’t like some people who do not care about the world and is angry all the time. When we were there we saw lots of people that looked happy and some people that were yelling at people and things like that. Just don’t be angry or sad be happy. You only live so long.

When I get angry I try to stop myself by doing something or just don’t worry about it just keep living your  life. When that happens do what I said early and I bet it will help. Also when we were there we got to do other fun things like go carting. All the people there were happy because going carting is usually fun for everyone. That is a great way to have angry go away. Another great way of getting anger out of you is to do service for other people. It will make you feel good and your anger will go away.

The big reason why my dad and I went to Dallas was to go to the Monday night football game in Dallas. It was the Giants against the Cowboys. I really wanted to find our seats I was dancing around I was very excited to be there. It was easy to get to the game because our hotel was close and we got a taxi to the game.  When we were in the stadium everyone in the stadium had a smile on their face. The reason everyone had a smile because they were happy to be there instead of being angry and sad they were doing something fun.

We had a great time just don’t be mad just do something and forget about it. Weather it is service or doing something fun. When you go on vacations look at people and think are they angry or sad or happy if they are mad or angry don’t look up to them just be happy and never be one of those people.

Conflict Resolution

Authors note: In this short piece I will tell you the conflict and resolution of a book.

The Re-bounder by Thomas J. Dygard is about I  boy who loves basketball and is a great one but something happened and he does not want to play basketball anymore. It is a person vs self because he is fighting him self to play basketball or not. That is a big conflict in the novel. Another big thing is that he his kind of being
forced by the basketball coach to play and he is really frustrated if he will play or not.

There is another book called Million Dollar Throw  by Mike Lupica and brady the main character about fifteen wins a million dollars throwing a football at a target. He has a big decision to make whether to keep the money or pay for this one girl that has I problem seeing that he has known for a why'll. He has lots of pressure on him same as criss in The re bounder.

The conflict was resolved in The re bounder he decided to play basketball and ended up having a great year with his new team and he was very happy he made the decision he made. If something happens in life try to forget it and move on it will be better for you and you won't have to worry anymore if you put it aside.

Travel Team. Is about a boy who loves basketball and tries to make a basketball team. and doesn't make it. he tries to make an other and feels good about the tryouts. Part of not making the team is that he is small and made fun of. It seems like his life's goal is no longer possible.

FDWA

Authors Note: What I want you to get out of this piece is the emotions and feelings of the characters in

the story. This piece is going to be about a trip to two places.

Have you ever felt so excited or happy to go on a trip somewhere? I know I have it’s a great feeling. My

family and I were very excited to go on a trip to Montana and Canada it is so great to have a feeling or

an emotion like this.   When we got there we saw our cousins and my uncle that owns the cabin. We got

to share our feelings and emotions with each other.

My family and I had a great time there visiting and talking with our cousins. Some people might think I

don’t like sharing my feelings and emotions with each other but I love to do that. While we were driving

to Canada to visit my grandma and grandpa and some more cousins we stopped at the pass for those

who have no idea what I’m saying the pass has lots of mountain animals and you drive up the mountain

and see lots of animals and later you drive down the mountain and you are almost and the border. It

was great to see all the animals interact with each other and the people that were up there. When we

arrived to my grandmas and grandpas house we saw them and our cousins. It was great talking to them.

My family and I had such I great time on our trip and share our feelings and emotions. If you get a

chance to share your feelings and emotions some people would want to know about you and it gets

easier to talk with people. I hoped you got something from this and remember this when you come

across the chance to share your feelings and emotions.

Basketball

Author’s Note: This short story tells you a lot about my favorite and what I like to do in it.
What is your favorite sport to play? My favorite sport to play is basketball I love shooting and dribbling the basketball it’s just as fun as going on water slides. For me going to a NBA basketball game is the most fun to do. Everyone has a favorite sport if you want to keep playing that sport you have got to practice over and over again until you think you can be the best at it which will never happen because you can always get better and something in that sport. So keep playing your favorite sport and try to get better.

Math

Author’s Note: This short paragraph is about why I like regular class better than aleks.

If you could choose having a regular class in math or doing aleks on the computer which one would you choose? My choice would by regular class because I understand it better when the teachers teach me rather then having the computer teach. Having the computer teach is just has bad has someone speaking to you in a different language trying to teach you something. The only good reason why I love aleks is that you can workat your own pace. Thats why I think regular class is better.

The Big Time

Author’s Note: This short paragraph tells about our book and what we learn from the book that will help us in life.
The book I'm reading right now is The Big Time by Tim Green. It's a very interesting book and teaches readers alot about life. The book is about a boy about my age that he wants his dad back and its hard for him to get him back.He goes through lots of challenges with help from his friends. It helps you to stay strong in life and never give up on anything even if it doesn't work out. If you stay strong in life lots of  hard trials will be easy.

China

Author's Note: For our writing circles we had to write what country we would like to visit  and what we would do there.

If you could go to a country which one would you go to? I would go to China and see lots of the old sites like the Great Wall. Another reason why I would go there is to taste Their food and see how different it taste. Eating there food is just as bad as geting mud in your mouth on a rainy day. The last reason why I would like to go is because lots of their clothes and toys are less money then they are in the United States. You should go to China to see what it is like.

Favorite Restaurant

Author’s Note: This short story is about my favorite restaurant and why I Like it.

What is your favorite place to go and eat? My favorite place to eat is Asiana. Why I like it so much is they have sushi and that is one of my most favorite foods. Walking in Asiana feels like walking in this big house With a masive chandalier hanging above you. Eating Their food is just as good as having a big vanilla milk shake on a hot sunny day. You should go to Asiana and try it some time if you like japaness food you will definitely love Asiana.

Dinosaurs

Author’s Note: This short story is about dinosaurs and what I liked about them.

What is your favorite type of dinosaur? Mine is The T-rex it is the biggest dinosaur that ever lived on the earth and ate anything that was meat. Dinosaurs lived millions of years ago and are one of the most interesting Animals that ever lived. TheT-rex is just as big as five moving trucks combine. Other dinosaurs are almost as ig as the T-rex but the king.

Life's Lessons

Author’s Note: Winning isn’t everything. It’s what you learn along the way that makes us better as athletes and as people.  When you lose you learn from those mistakes and get better for the next time.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have your parents in the process of splitting up and being the one to lead your team to the  World Series? Best of the Best by Tim Green describes in detail what it would be like to lead your team to the little league World Series, keep your dad from losing his money in a scam and learning that your parents are in the process of splitting up. This is what Josh Le Blanc faces.

The main character Josh stays strong throughout the novel. With help from his two close friend’s life is a lot easier for Josh as he leads them to the World Series and manages his parents. From another book I have read called, Million Dollar Throw, the author makes a character about Josh’s age they go through similar trials and they each have a friend to help them through challenges so it becomes a little easier.

I can relate to this book because my baseball team came really close to winning the championship for baseball and I felt disappointed just like Josh did when we didn’t win. However we had a lot of fun, I met new friends, learned that you have to play as a team and made a lot of great memories. Sometimes that’s better than winning a championship.

The book ended differently than I expected. I thought they were going to win the World Series and Joshes parents would get back together. However they lost the championship game and Joshes parents didn’t end back together. It was more like a real situation that happens more often in life. We still learn from it and it makes us better.

Hard Work and a Brother's Love

Author’s Note: Ty, the main character in the book goes through hard trials in his life. These trials come on the football team and in living with his uncle. Sometimes trials make us better.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have a mean uncle and have you parents die?
Football Hero by Tim Green describes in detail what it would be like living with a mean uncle and cleaning restaurants and getting bullied on the football team.

The main character Ty stays strong throughout the novel, listening to his uncle telling him to clean the house and lots of other mean things and thinking about his parents and trying really hard on the football team. With help from his older brother Thane, life becomes a little easier for Ty at school and with his uncle and aunt. From another book I have read, Night Hoops, the author makes a character about Ty’s age and they both go through hard times and they each have an older brother that steps up for them so they don’t have to do lots more challenges than they already have to.

I can relate to this story because I have played on a football team and I have an older brother. I know what it’s like to be on a team and I know what it’s like to have an older brother who helps me and looks out for me. The author makes Ty an example of someone who is strong and responsible and makes good choices to help other people do what’s right. The author wants you to learn how to be strong and stand up for yourself when times are tough.

I liked the book because it told a lot about bravery and hard work. When you want to be good at something you have to practice. Not everything comes easy you have to work to get better and stronger. The book is very inspiring to me and it teaches me to be more brave and strong at most of the things I do.

Sometimes life can be hard but when you stick together with your sibling’s life is a little easier. Making good choices helps too. Being brave helps you a lot in life.

Go Big or Go Home

Author’s Note: Brady the main character goes through all this trials with his brother and they try to over come them.
The book Go Big or Go Home by Will Hobbs is a really exiting story that takes readers through the roughness of the Rocky Mountains and life. The novel is a good way to teach kids lessons about staying true to family and friends even in a crisis.

The Author shows good emotion and describes things very well throughout the entire book. He teaches readers to go on adventures and have fun in life. The Author tells us something’s are difficult but we can overcome the trials. The Author again teaches us to keep pushing forward to challenge our self’s in the future to come. In the novel the Author makes the main character and his older brother go through all this adventures and ruff times.

On the other hand the author got his point across very well in the novel. His point in the story was that you have lots of hard challenges in your life that you should accomplish so your life becomes a little easier. The author in the book gave really good examples of what some hard trials are like in your life. He made two brothers in the story because he wants them to go through all these hard trials together to help each other out.

It relates to me because when I was snowboarding I got stuck in a tree and couldn’t get out for a why’ll. That relates to the book because when Brady the main character and his brother were on a little raft trying to catch fish one big fish got on their line and they tried to get the fish in there raft but the fish got away and the hook from the fish line hit their raft and the raft got a hole on the side so they had to swim out and get on shore.

Throughout the book the author shows everything very clear and describes things very well. The author in this novel tells us that if you have trials you can get help by another person you know.

The life of a Ipod

Authors Note: This is about a life of a ipod.

As I was processed through the machine there were Ipads on the other manufucturing machine. I felt all of the parts get put on me the battery and then the screen. One worker put me in the case with the ear phones and the charging cord. Another worker took me in a box were others of me were in. He took all of us in a truck and shipped us off at a store called Best buy. The worker took us all in and placed us in a glass case so other people can buy us. One boy about 13 came with his parents and wanted one of the workers to open the glass case to buy oneof us and so he did and I was hoping it was me who got picked. And sure enough it was me, the kid look so happy and so he took my up to the check out and bought me. So when he got home he opened me and started to plug me in to his computer to put apps and songs on me. He loved his new ipod and showed all of his friends.

football

Football is one of the most popular sports that people whatch on TV. Its really exciting when the defense or the offence makes a big play. My favorite team in the NFL is the Houston Texans because of JJ Watt and my favorite player is JJ Watt. He is a really good defensive lineman he gets lots of tackles every game and got a interception for a touchdown a couple games ago.
