Author’s Note: Ty, the main character in the book goes through hard trials in his life. These trials come on the football team and in living with his uncle. Sometimes trials make us better.
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have a mean uncle and have you parents die?
Football Hero by Tim Green describes in detail what it would be like living with a mean uncle and cleaning restaurants and getting bullied on the football team.
The main character Ty stays strong throughout the novel, listening to his uncle telling him to clean the house and lots of other mean things and thinking about his parents and trying really hard on the football team. With help from his older brother Thane, life becomes a little easier for Ty at school and with his uncle and aunt. From another book I have read, Night Hoops, the author makes a character about Ty’s age and they both go through hard times and they each have an older brother that steps up for them so they don’t have to do lots more challenges than they already have to.
I can relate to this story because I have played on a football team and I have an older brother. I know what it’s like to be on a team and I know what it’s like to have an older brother who helps me and looks out for me. The author makes Ty an example of someone who is strong and responsible and makes good choices to help other people do what’s right. The author wants you to learn how to be strong and stand up for yourself when times are tough.
I liked the book because it told a lot about bravery and hard work. When you want to be good at something you have to practice. Not everything comes easy you have to work to get better and stronger. The book is very inspiring to me and it teaches me to be more brave and strong at most of the things I do.
Sometimes life can be hard but when you stick together with your sibling’s life is a little easier. Making good choices helps too. Being brave helps you a lot in life.
