Parody Poem

You know your red jacket that
was in
your closet

I used it to wipe up some
soda that was
on the ground

I hope you
forgive me
and say it was
fine

Be a Good Person

Author’s note: In this piece I am going to tell you the point of view in a book and how it effects the readers interpretation and thinking.

Have you ever watched a dog sled race or followed the race on the internet? If yes you should read the book Stone Fox by John Reynolds Gardiner.  This book is about this boy whose grandfather is very sick and can’t pay his farms taxes so the boy the main character whose name is Willy is going to enter a dog sled race and he is going to race one man who is a great dog sled racer and if Willy wins they get money to pay the taxes of his grandfather’s farm.

The point of view is coming from the main character Willy and you hear what his grandfather is like and what the man he is racing is like his name is Stone fox. Stone fox is a tall and strong man who loves to race and he seems to not care about anything just himself. Willy’s grandfather is an old man who loves to farm and hangout with Willy but he has got this bad sickness where he can’t do anything. So from Willy’s point of view the reader knows about everything and even about Willy.

If the reader was told in Stone Foxes point of view it would make the story a lot different and we would know more about him and what he thinks of Willy and his grandfather and he would tell us lots about dog sledding. There was a scene in the book where Willy’s dog named Searchlight died right before Willy was going to win the race and Stone fox comes around the corner and sees him and stops and lets Willy carry Searchlight over the finish line and win the race so they could pay the taxes. That shows that Stone fox is a good man and actually cares about some things.

So be a good person like Stone fox was and let people go ahead of you if they are sad or need some help and don’t just stand there and watch be helpful and people would look at you and say he is a good person.

Stay Out of Trouble

Authors Note: This piece is going to be about the point of view of the main character in the book Holes By Louis Sachar. It is going to tell you what the character feels and thinks in the piece.

Imagine yourself getting in really bad trouble for something you didn't do and having to go to jail or a bad boys camp and you are trying really hard to get out of the situation. That’s what life was like for Stanley the main character in Holes by Louis Sachar. So here he is getting in really bad trouble for something he didn't do and having to go to a camp. So he is on the bus going to the camp out in the middle of a desert where it never is cool it is always blazing hot and not a lot of water for them each to have. Why’ll he is there he learns a lot from other kids that are there. He isn't that smart and he doesn't stand up for himself he just keeps moving on from situations.

This camp makes them work hard each day they each have to dig a hole five feet deep and five feet wide and everyday it gets harder to dig. Lots of people make fun of his looks and weight he just doesn’t care about them and he keeps working and doesn't care about him.  He has a friend there that talks to him and they just hang out he is very shy and quiet and hates where he is at. There is a warden there she is like the boss of the place and id you find something interesting you have to show it to the warden and she decides if you get the rest of the day of.

If the story was from her point of view it would be a little different. She would tell us all the different types of kids there and what they feel and lots of cool things that kids have brought in. she was kind of a mean lady and very strict and she’s very tall. She got the best place to sleep a log cabin and the kids got tents. There was a scene in the story about the warden and Stanley where Stanley found something cool in a hole at night and the warden came over and caught him. That tells the reader that the warden is kind of mean and is keeping an eye on the area where they dig their holes.

In conclusion the story would be very different if the point of view was on the warden it would change a lot of things like the tone and the way the reader feels about all the people in the story. So try not to get caught if you are doing something mad and stay out of trouble in the future.

Be Confident

Authors Note: This short piece is going to tell you about to main characters from two different stories and how they are similar to each other.

In the book Night Hoops  by Carl Deuker the main character Nick goes through hard times with his parents breaking up and a kid across the street from him. He is a big kid and great at basketball. He helps this one kid get good at basketball so they could play together on the varsity basketball team and become better friends. It is very hard for him to get this kid named Trent to basketball practices and games so in the hole book he has to stay strong and keep helping Trent through his hard times.

In the other book Million Dollar Throw by Mike Lupica the main character Brady is going to throw a football in a target at a football game if he makes it he gets a million dollars and if he gets the money he has to make a big decision whether to pay for a surgery that a girl he knows is going to have to save her life or to keep the money for later use. He decides to pay for the girls surgery. He had a very hard time making that decision.

In conclusion these books were very similar because they both involved dealing with a decision both helping someone and  both involved with sports and how you can get involved with that and making hard choices takes some thinking whether or not helping someone change their life around If you were in this situation what would you do I would be the good person and help them. So stay strong like they did and help anyone that needs help.
